Today in class had a quiz about algebra. Here some example of what we did.
We we have 4x=-32 and to simplify this we have to divide both sides of the equation by 4 which will give us -8.
Always remember that variables are to left and constants are to the right.
1). To simplify this transposing method should be used.
Always remember that variables are to the left and constant are to the right and signs will be changed.
Example:
5X+9=X-23
Variable x will be transposed to the right side of the equation and it will become -x. Constant 9 will be moved to the left side and it will become -9.
Variable x will be transposed to the right side of the equation and it will become -x. Constant 9 will be moved to the left side and it will become -9.
We we have 4x=-32 and to simplify this we have to divide both sides of the equation by 4 which will give us -8.
2).10b-45=3(b-15
First we have to simplify the right side of the equation using the distributive property of multiplication.
We have 3(b-15). This means that factor 3 will be multiplied to each terms inside the brackets. From here we have to use the transposing method.
