This afternoon we are and our teacher told us about The Great Big Book of Algebra
other years this was called a Growing Post. And this year Mr. H. called it The Great Big Book of Algebra. It's inspiration came from the cartoon named Stanley Tiger Tales.
The Great Big Book of Algebra
In this activity Mr. H. said that we have to write 5 integers poems. The poems were:
You should have a three types of poetry in the first chapter and these are :
Haiku: Haiku was the type of Japanese poetry and it combines with form, content, and language that is meaningful, yet it compact form.Other themes have nature, feelings,or experiences.Haiku poetry has a three lines in length. In first line their are 5 syllables and in the second line their are 7 syllables in the third line is also 5 syllables.
Tanka: And Tanka was also a type of Japanese poetry, and Tanka is almost like an extension of Haiku poetry. And the Tanka was a 5 lines poem.
Line 1 and line 3 are 5 syllables.And the lines 2,4 and 5 are 7 syllables.
Cinquian: Cinquian are 5 lines in length. And the Cinquian poems have a two main forms.
Ex. #1:
Line 1:One word topic (noun)
Line 2:Two describing words (adjectives)
Line 3: Three action words (verbs)
Line 4:A four-word phrase
Line5:A synonym or equivalent for the topic
Ex.2:
Line1:Topic (2 syllable word or words)
Line2:4 syllables describing topic
Line3:6 syllables expressing action
Line4:8 syllables describing feeling
Line5:2 syllables-a synonym for the topic
Free verse poetry was free from the other rules in poetry. And the poet may use a rhyming words but the poem does not have to rhyme.A Free Verse poem may be just written in a sentence that was artistically laid out on page or pages of words.Free verse forms are separate,or split, phrases and it should have a words between the lines. And the punctuation absent or it can be use to place emphasis on specific words. The object of the Free verse Is to use colorful words ,puntuation, and word placement to convey meaning to the reader.
Picture:A picture poem, is a poem made of letters or words which created in actual picture, form on the page.Like when your subject was a kite and the picture should be like a kte or a symbol like a kite.
Diamante:Diamante is an Italian word that in the english was diamond. The poetic form takes the shape of diamante when it's complete. And this type of poem has a 7 lines.
There are 2 types of pattern to choose from.In the first one it develops one topic only.
And in the part 2 starts out with one theme and in the middle begins to move toward to an opposite theme.
PATTERN ONE:
Line 1:Choose a topic (noun)
Line2:Use to describing words (adjectives)
Line3:Use 3 action words (verbs)
Line4:Use a four-word phrase capturing some feeling about the topic
Line5:Use three action words (verbs)
Line6: Use two describing words(adjectives)
Line 7: Use a synonym for an ending word(noun)
PATTERN TWO:
Line1:Choose a noun as your title and an opposite word (an antonym) for the ending word of your poem
Line2: Use two adjectives(describing words) for the title (line1)
Line 3: Use three verbs (action words or ``ing`` words for the title
Line 4: Use two words to express the title noun - then two words to express the opposite ending noun. The theme changes in this line.
Line5: Choose three action words for the ending noun
Line7: Use one word-the antonym (opposite)you decided upon in line one
This ends chapter one.Good luck!!! to us and have a happy poetry writing
