Worksheet: Which Italian Insects Often Fall in Love?
Some people had some trouble doing question #10, #4, #13 so Mr. H showed us the solutions.
I'm going to show you how to solve number 10 letter A. If you spin the spinner 600 times, about how many times would you expect it to stop on: a. $1, b. $5, c. $10.
A) P= FO/ TPO
6/12 or 1/2 or 50% Fifty percent of 600 is 300 so 300 is the answer.
The second thing we did in class was the work sheet. I will show you 4 questions on the first page.
#8 A number from 9- 20 is drawn at a random. Express the probability as a percent.
P ( a number divisible by two)= FO/TPO, 6/12 or 1/2 or 50%
9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20 TPO
10,12,14,16,18,20 FO
The answer is 50% percent
#10 You roll a number cube numbered from 1-6. Express the probability as a decimal.
P (2)= FO/ TPO, 1/6 or 0.17
1,2,3,4,5,6 TPO
2 FO
The answer is 0.17
#12 A jar contains 4 pink, 11 green, 19 blue, 6 violet marbles. A marble is drawn at a random. Express the probability as a percent. Round to the nearest percent.
P (not green)= FO/ TPO, 29/40 or 73%

29 marbles are not green FO
The answer is 73%
#14 A jar contains 11 navy and 12 white marbles. A marble is drawn at a random. Express the probability as a decimal. Round to the nearest hundredth.
P (white)= FO/ TPO, 12/23 or 0.52
All the marbles TPO
12 marbles (white) FO
The answer is 0.52
On the other side of the sheet there is another set of questions I'm going to show you two of them.
#5 You flip a coin and toss a 1-6 number cube.
P (not tails)= FO/ TPO 1/2
P(not 3)= FO/ TPO 5/6
Then I multiply the two fractions together 5/6 x 1/ 2
6 x 2 is 12, 1 x 5 is 5 so it's 5/ 12
That's how I solve it. I know it is right but, I think Mr. H wants us to do a probability tree. Sadly I didn't, I took a shortcut.
#6 You roll a number cube numbered 1-6 You then spin a spinner with 4 sections each with a different color. The spinner has the colors pink, red, white, and gray.
P(2)= FO/ TPO 1/6
P (white)= FO/ TPO 1/4
Then I multiply the two fractions together 6 x 4 is 24, 1 x 1 is 1. So the answer is 1/24. Another shortcut.
