Today we had to do a few problems from the green booklet. We have to do questions that are similar to the questions from Part 3 (which coincidentally is our homework).

The difference in these questions are that you'll need to do BEDMAS.

For example, if you take question... I don't know... 13.

13. (17-25) - (-8+7) - (-15+25)

First Step: Do the INSIDE of the brackets.

13. (17-25) - (-8+7) - (-15+25)
-8 -1 10

Second Step:Keep the brackets

13. (17-25) - (-8+7) - (-15+25)
(-8) (-1) (10)

Third Step: Pull down order of operations sign

13. (17-25) - (-8+7) - (-15+25)
(-8) - (-1) - (10)

Fourth Step: Look for "uh-oh"s (and turn them into have have)

13. (17-25) - (-8+7) - (-15+25)
(-8) + (+1) - (10)

Fifth Step: Rewrite (and look for shortcuts like zero pairs because we're "lazy teenagers")

13. (17-25) - (-8+7) - (-15+25)
(-8) + (+1) - (10)
-8+1-10

Sixth Step: Combine like integers

13. (17-25) - (-8+7) - (-15+25)
(-8) + (+1) - (10)
-8+1-10
-18+1 =+17

10. -(-2+8) + (-3-4)

3. (-2+4) - (-4+2)=

( 2 ) - ( -2 )

(2) + (+2)

2+2=4

Homework

1. Part 2. odd numbers only (if you haven't done them already)

2. Part 3. All of it.

I pick Melanie to do the next scribe.

Great job Aleiah, I liked the way that you used lots of examples and described it very well, but you forgot to pick someone to do the scribe for tomorrow.

Good job Aleiah, I also liked how you used a lot of examples and described it using many different colors. I think you should explain what BEDMAS means to some people who forgot what it meant.

Good job! You explained how to solve questions with BEDMAS, with a lot of details. I also liked the way you used many colours to make important stuff stand out. But I noticed that in the fourth step, you forgot to fix the other "uh-oh." But other than that, you did very well. Good job, once again.

PS thanks for choosing me for the next scribe (: for some reason, I love doing scribes.

Excellent job on this scribe. The use of examples was very effective, and you did a good job on explaining how to do order of operations.

Keep up the good work!

Good job. The scribe made sense. I liked how you used lots of examples. I also liked the big font it was easier to see. Good job again.
